Billow and Breeze; Mountains to Seas
See it through their eyes. Follow their footsteps.
Where the drums beat in Autumn,
Where the cross catches fire.
Where Winter's breath turns
to snow and ashes.
Follow the footsteps of Jamie and Claire Fraser in their journey through the Carolinas. From Charleston, South Carolina and throughout North Carolina, from the sea to the mountains, we'll stop at many of the places you have come to know and love in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series books - Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross, and A Breath of Snow and Ashes, all set in beautiful North and South Carolina.
For 8 days and 7 nights we'll roam the Carolina countryside much as did Claire, Jamie and young Ian, beginning in Charleston, South Carolina (where they first "hung out" with infamous pirate character Stephen Bonnet and smuggled him out of Charleston). From Charleston its up the coastal road to the North Carolina port city of Wilmington, and up the rivers to New Bern and Cross Creek(Fayetteville).
We'll look through the Sandhills for Auntie Jocasta'splantation, theIndian Moundsand the homestead of Scottish heroine, Flora MacDonald. Leaving the pines of the Sandhills, we'll continue on the trail to the colonial back country capital of Hillsborough, and over to the site of the Regulator Battle of Alamance, where Roger's life was changed dramatically.
In Winston Salem we'll tour the authentically restored Moravian Village of (Old) Salem, the closest settlement to the Fraser's homestead in western North Carolina.
Last, but certainly not least, we begin our own search for the elusive Fraser's Ridge through the beautiful foothills and Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina via the Blue Ridge Parkway and the towns of Boone and Blowing Rock; then down the mountains to the foothills of the fertile Yadkin River Valley.
